Best Secret Menu Items from Fast Food Restaurants
It’s now abundantly clear, the people have spoken, 2014 is the year for hacking fast food menus to obtain the unobtainable, the legendary secret menu items. According to HackTheMenu, the ultimate guide to secret menu items, any fast food restaurant is susceptible to being hacked. On a personal note, when I first began my secret menu hunting career, I was afraid the employee would not understand what I had ordered and refuse me. So I did my homework, and sites like HackTheMenu made it incredibly simple to order with step-by-step guides on what to say. This included the enlightening “secret” behind the secret menu item.
Once I got past the initial nervousness I made my first order, and it went as smooth as butter…or should I say, melted cheese. The order was at Chipotle, the woman who took my order heard me say Quesarito and immediately turned to her right and yelled to the woman next to her, “need some cheese for a Quesarito!” I couldn’t have been more happy as I saw my cheesy and delicious order being made while everyone else in line was wondering how I got such an awesome hack. Now that I’m out there ordering, I thought I would help you with a straightforward list of my favorite secret menus.
Chipotle, the fast food menu with made-to-order written all over it and filled with fantastic employees who build it for you. It is also home to my single, hands-down favorite. The Quesarito from the Chipotle secret menu is the Quesarito. This beast of a burrito is made with two big taco shells that sandwich a huge handful of cheese, then grilled in the warmer. This creates a quesadilla, which is then used as the shell to hold all of your regular burrito fillings. To call the quesarito delicious is an understatement, you must try it yourself to truly understand the tastes this thing creates. Each bite trails with gooey cheese covering the delicious meat on the inside.
Jamba Juice creates some of the best smoothies around, and always provides a huge menu to order from. However, the menu is too small for the secret-menu cravers like you out there. For instance, the Jamba Juice White Gummybear Recipe is a quite popular drink that is not listed on the regular menu. This secret menu drink combines a bunch of different flavors in a smoothie, (see secret recipe link above), to make a drink that tastes exactly like the white gummybear!
In-n-Out, and their insanely loyal cult following, might be the driving force behind the secret menu craze. The difference with In-n-out and other restaurants secret menu’s is that the In-n-Out employees are actually paid to know how to make the crazy concoctions. One of the all-time greats is making the items “animal style,” such as In-n-Out’s Animal Style Fries. These are beautiful fries covered in melted cheese, secret spread and grilled onions. A serious taste with a serious mess.
Taco Bell is everywhere, at every corner, and yet nobody seems to know about their secret menu. They have the dreamy Cheesarito, the Chili Cheese Burrito and, most importantly, the Double Grilled Quesadilla. The regular quesadilla is pretty good, so gooey and crunchy, yet it is missing a little crunch on each bite. This secret menu hack fixes the problem, as Taco Bell will allow you to have this cooked for double the amount of time.
Starbucks, the king of coffee and amazingly skilled baristas that will custom make your secret menu drink. Whether it be a frappuccino, latte or even liquid cocaine the drink can be yours. Here, we are highlighting the Twix Frappuccino from Starbucks Secret Menu. The drink literally tastes like a Twix candy bar, its uncanny. Made with pumps of caramel, hazelnut and other flavors (check the recipe in link), this frap will confuse your taste buds in a good way.
